In my eyes, passion is the key to happiness. It applies to every aspect of life, whether it be choosing an activity for the day, or choosing a career. If one does not find passion in what they do, it will be near to impossible to enjoy their career. This is my career lies in the direction of my passion. Overtime my passion has shifted to multiple hobbies and studies, however, it has finally fallen in the right place. Based on my life experiences with family, I have decided I am most passionate about learning about the mind and behavior of not humans, but animals. I plan to receive a Doctorate in psychology, specializing in animal behavior. After DMACC I plan on attending Iowa State University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I was also invited to join Phi Theta Kappa, joining during my second semester at DMACC. After my first year at DMACC I was placed on the president’s list due to my high GPA and above-average grades. By virtue of being in the Honors Program, I have accomplished two independent projects. My first project was for the class, Introduction to Psychology. I was required to write a 6-8-page research paper on the educational benefits of elementary school field trips. I personally conducted research at a nearby elementary school, where I surveyed the students, attended the field trips, and observed how and what the children learned. From this I was able to come up with my own data based on two classes and their field trips. For my second semester project, I created a brochure that informed students about the major and career of psychology. This brochure included salaries, popular fields of psychology, and education requirements.
