Leadership is one of the most important components of any business structure. It is imperative that we as the youth know and understand the implications of the different elements of leadership to ensure we know which leadership style to incorporate when working in industry. Leaders are like everyone else, they behave in a way that has a powerful influence on others, someone who gets the group together and motivates the group to finish a task at hand. A leader influences the external organisation culture and influences their employees to willingly follow organisational goals. Manager has condescending confidence and trust. This type of leadership style shows confidence in the group and allows group members to openly have direct communication with them. This type of leadership style can be used in emergencies for fast and effective results, Cohen (1997). There is more group anger, group members rely more on the leader and decisions are made much slower.This is the result of a lack of time dedicated to leadership development on the employee’s part Oats, (2011:36). The effects of this type of leadership autocratic leaders make decisions with little or no involvement from employees and employees will detach with this style. A disadvantage of this type of leadership style is that it allows the team members to put their trust into one leader and lack of work done from this leader will allow the group to fail. An advantage of this type of leadership style can be group ease that can make this type of leadership style very well and a very special person who would be in charge of the group can do the job effectively and efficiently and according to Cleary (2003:42) autocratic leadership styles provide more group productivity while leader watches, the group makes quicker decisions, often does the task themselves as it is quicker and the autocrat pushes the group. If a manager should find themselves placed in a group of experts it would be difficult to express as to where the group would go even if this style of leadership has the most positive effect on the working environment, confusion may arise if no proper instructions from members are given. The authoritarian leader sometimes lacks a sense of problem solving.

Randall Abrahams South African Idols judge is an example of an authoritarian leader. He gives orders and blunt remarks, and breathes down the competitors necks. He makes choices on his own ideas, own judgments and makes quick decisions when it has to be made without any
