The Confederate States had no means of security and economic stability to last the entire war, which gave an advantage to the Union. After four years of hardship, the Union emerged victorious.
Caitlyn Epperson Dennison History 1301 1 May 2015 Union Vs. Confederate The Killer Angels a book written by Michael Shaara, published in the 1970’s. The book gives readers a surprising view of the Civil War. After visiting Gettysburg, the author knew that he wanted to write about America’s past.
The Union, that was under Abraham Lincoln, keep the Northern states together and able to operate better. They were able to function as a whole unit rather than separate states like the south had done. By having this, they were able to keep their government together and on the same page. The South wasn’t able to function as a
The Union and the Confederacy were fighting for their own acceptable intentions. The Union sought to defend the constitution and have one unified country. Nevertheless, the Confederacy felt endangered when Union soldiers were directed to their territory. So because when one feels endangered or threatened, one must have the sudden desire to protect. It is in the human nature to do so.
The Confederate Army had much better leadership Union Army could replace soldiers much quicker Confederate Army fought a defensive war The Confederate Army had trouble arming all their troops Confederate Army didn't have many uniforms, men usually just fought in what they brought with them Confederate Army was better trained Union had a bigger army Union had a more powerful Navy The Union had better access to railroads. (More Americans died during the civil war then all the other wars America fought.) The most famous battles where Shiloh, Antietam, Stones River, and Gettysburg. Hundreds of thousands died of disease. African-Americans served in the in the Civil War on both the Union and Confederate side.
The Civil War was an outstanding victory for the North. There were many reasons to believe the North had this war in the bag the whole time. They had several advantages to the South like their Naval strength, access to railroads, larger population, and their thriving yet better economy. The North used all of these advantages to its fullest. Their Navy forces were used to blockade the south, causing the South to be deprived on any goods being brought in from other countries.
At the time of the Civil War, the Union and Confederacy were split in half. But, although they were two totally different sides of the war, they had both similarities and differences with each other. A great example is their reasons for fighting the war. Both sides, North and South, were fighting for liberty, although they were totally different reasons. During the war, the South believed that the tensions between the Confederate and Union were because of the North.
Even though the North had a greater population and was more industrialized than the South, the Confederacy was defending their homeland as well as their rights and therefore this gave them a reason to fight. The Confederacy also had a fertile land, which allowed them grow crops; they
The Civil War was very complicated and deadly, it caused a lot of damage, but for a greater step that had to be taken, slavery had to end, and so came the Civil War. The North, or the Union, won the war for many reasons, but mainly for their great advantages such as more resources and money provided, basically a more stable economy, their army with more helpers and soldiers than the South and not only having the president’s support but also having the higher ground in many battles. During the 1800’s the U.S divided itself between North and South, the South's economy being overtaken by agriculture, the North slowly evolved into a more industrialized society. Along the years, the North had more factories, railroads, banks and with all that of
The North had a large disadvantage, which was that they were fighting in the South’s territory. They did not know the lay of the land and were ambushed frequently during the war. There was also a large expanse of land to cover which made it hard for their soldiers during the Civil War. The South has several advantages although not as many as the North.
Another advantage the Union had was a good industrie. The Unions railroad system gave them a huge boost in the war because they were able to move necessary resources in a more efficient way. The North could ship food, weapons and clothes to their soldiers at a way faster rate than the Confederate, this made sure that the North's soldiers were always replenished with supplies (O’Neill, 2016). One of the biggest technological inventions during the Civil War was the telegraph. The telegraph gave the north an excellent way of communication.
The union who was of the north was for abolishing slavery which many felt were wrong even though they still didn’t consider them equal. The south was comprised of the confederacy which was a bunch of plantation owners who owned many slaves that tilled their fields. The north was losing at first two years after the start of the war the union allowed for runaway slaves and freed slaves to join its ranks. This was a major turning point now since white men fought alongside black men they were equal on the battlefield but not in pay. The union used the railway system they had to transport troops and food a lot easier than the south was able to.
After four long years, the Unions won the war which saw to it that both parties ended up as a united nation once again. The North overpowered and defeated the South due to a number of reasons as illustrate below. To begin with, the fact that the South majored in agriculture made them to be left behind in terms of industrialization, an important factor during the civil war since fabricated merchandise was highly regarded than agricultural products. The North was therefore privileged to be in a better position in production of armory since it was able to host firms that manufactured ammunitions and war locomotives. The South was poorer, since cotton was no longer making ready income and they only had a few manufacturing origins.
The Union had more railroad lines and they had the telegraph system. The telegraph system was a huge advantage for the Union because they could now send messages thousands of miles away in less than a minute. President Abraham Lincoln could now command the Union’s generals in the safety of his own office. The railroad lines gave the Union a big advantage because they could transport resources faster than the Confederate
North held many advantages over the south during the war and its population was more then south. The south lacked the number of factories and industries. The north had better transportation network mainly highways, canals and railroads which was useful to the supply of the military forced. The source of money in the south was the cotton crops not factory.
