Corruptions, abuse of power, and any misconduct in the corporate world can portray negative image towards the organizations involved generally, and the individuals personally. The problem when these misconducts happen in the organization is there is lack of people within the organization who realize the bad doings that have the guts to report and to publicly expose to the authorities. Therefore, there is a term called ‘whistleblower’. In a very simplest way, we can define a whistleblower as the one who is in the organization, realizing what wrongdoings that have been done and reports to the authorities for the sake of preserving working ethics.

One of the advantages is it can expose unethical behavior. This is when the organization’s members step over the legal line, these whistleblowers can make those unethical activities publicly known and held those who involved accountable. Therefore, it can be an example to other organizations not to commit any illegal conducts in the future. This simply shows that acting as a whistle blower was not easy for him. He faced those arrogant directors and management who refused to even discuss about the issues they were having at that time. Moreover, Woodford had to accept the fact that blowing the whistle was against the culture of the company. By that, he understood that going against the norm of a particular group will result in him facing some serious consequences.
