At first, the 1960’s was considered a “golden age” for many Americans. African-Americans were making progress in society. Many black leaders pushed for change during the 60’s. The 1960’s was a decade of revolution and change in politics and society around the United States. The 1969’s was also a period of protest. Many of the protests were for the advocacy for different races because of the unfair treatment they received. Malcolm was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the seventh of eleven children. His father, Earl, was a Baptist minister. His mother was raised in Grenada in the British West Indies.
