Between 1989 and 1990, Aileen Wuornos made her mark as the first American female serial killer who murdered several men leaving their bodies along Florida highways. She lived in Florida and was a working highway prostitute where she was picked up by the men. Wuornos alleged that she shot the men in self defense after they tried to sexually assault her. Her mother was young, incapable of giving the mothering Aileen needed and she never got the chance to know her father. Aileen’s claims that sexual contact with her grandfather and brother started at an early age, and at age 14 became pregnant presumably by her brother Keith and sent away to a home for unwanted mothers.  Psychopathic personality was a clear diagnosis for Aileen meeting the standards for both Antisocial personality disorder as well as Borderline personality disorder. “Antisocial personality disorder is a disorder that is characterized by a long-standing pattern of disregard for other people’s rights, often crossing the line and violating those rights” (Antisocial Personality Disorder Symptoms, 2017).
