This September I will be going off to high school. I will be attending Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island. I can’t wait to go to high school and take a big step toward adulthood. I expect a lot of things will happen in high school and I am looking forward to it.
I am interested in becoming a TK assistant teacher at Providence Day School. I believe my pedagogical style reflects the Providence Day commitment to students, allowing students to be intellectual risk-takers within a community of supportive learners and educators. My life experiences and my enthusiasm will allow me to teach with compassion and understanding to help students achieve academic success while nurturing their social and emotional skills. I will be graduating from Queens University of Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education on May 6, 2017. I am currently completing my student teaching in first-grade at Sharon Elementary School.

I rarely remember having a student-teacher relationship with an educator throughout my education, and as I succeeded academically my teachers were surprised but nothing more than surprised. Then there were the teachers that made all the difference, teachers that went above and beyond and left an everlasting impact on how I view education, and essentially what made achieving a higher education possible. The National Honor Society organization functions as a symbol of excellence and brilliance of Egg Harbor Township High School. As a committed and goal-oriented individual with more energy than a billion watts, I know that being a member of your well-respected organization would allow me the opportunity to help my community, school, character development and scholastic abilities, and most notably, mutually benefit National Honor Society to the best of my ability. Being a student at Hoover High School has prepared me for both college and my future career with my both my course work and my participation in the Hoover Finance Academy. My childhood was not most would consider to be easy. Both my mother and father had addiction issues that forced my younger brother and I to care for ourselves. By the time I reached the fifth grade, I had attended five different elementary schools. On the days that I did actually go to school, I was not on time. A few years later, I moved in with my grandparents, and my entire life improved.

In 11 years at Mechanics Grove School I have been fortunate enough to teach both 4th and 5th grades. I am always seeking opportunities to increase my level of involvement and responsibility. I am the school's Capacity Builder for the Rising Star School Improvement Team. This position has required me to actively participate in each of the building Professional Learning Communities in order to communicate Rising Star Plan initiatives while at the same time gaining input as to the effectiveness of the plans in place. My ability to listen and understand has been an incredible asset in the school improvement plan process.

I want to become an assistant principal for one simple reason, the children. I believe that all children can learn under the right conditions. With this in mind, I feel that instructional leaders are responsible for ensuring that the conditions for learning are embedded in the school’s culture. Although my role as a Learning Team Facilitator enables me to have an impact on the academic achievement of students through working with teachers, I believe that becoming an assistant principal will help me to be more of a driving force throughout the school. I possess several personal attributes that are essential in serving in the capacity of an assistant principal.
Most of my field work has been in The Akron Public School District which has allowed me to gain a lot of experience with urban youth students in the Akron area. I have been placed into preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and high school classrooms which has allowed me to be given a wide variety of experiences with teachers and students. During my placement in the preschool classroom, I was able to learn about the importance of including lessons that enrich each area of a child’s development. While working with the Kindergarten students, I was able to observe a classroom that was run based on centers and small group instruction. I enjoyed working with the students in this classroom as many of the centers were game based which established a fun way for the students to learn.
