I am eager to attend the USNA Summer STEM due to my strong interest in all disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. My future plan is to attend the United States Naval Academy, study Nuclear Engineering and serve my country for life. Over the past six years, I have served my country in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Throughout high school I have participated in many different activities and programs, but one of the opportunities I was given I will carry with me forever. As a junior at River Valley I participated in the Marion General Teen Volunteer Program. After interviewing and being placed in the physical therapy unit I took the opportunity to branch out into other areas of the hospital. I soon made my way to the labor and delivery floor where everyday a miracle happened. My duties while volunteering included assisting the nurses during hearing checks, changing diapers, and rocking crying infants in special care.
I would like to become an active member of Carrboro High School’s National Honor Society in order to benefit my community through service. I am immensely committed to serving and improving my community, as I have made distinctly clear with my 143 service hours. To become a member of the highly esteemed National Honors Society would mean that I have achieved my goal of being an archetype student for North Penn High School. To be blunt, I had stressed over applying for NHS for quite a while, but it was not until mid-way through the application process in which I realized my life is based around the qualities that the National Honor Society holds in high value. I have been yearning to be a part of this remarkable organization since I graduated my freshman year as an officer in NJHS. Since then, my time has been filled with countless volunteering and involvement in extracurricular activities. I am very passionate about what I become invested into, and I work at achieving my goals to the fullest.
I have always wanted to serve in law enforcement. It was something that I have wanted to do since childhood and I finally got my chance in 2012 at the age of 54. First, there was the academy, where I had to learn all the State and Federal laws to include the United States Constitution. Then it was off to the gun range to learn how to shoot tactically followed by defensive tactics. The final stage was learning how to apply and administer criminal procedures in accordance with my State requirements for Law Enforcement.
As an individual who strives to make a positive impact in my community and academic environment, I strongly believe that I should be considered for admission into the National Honor Society. I make it a point to follow the organization's pillars every day. These pillars include Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I always had a dream of joining the military. Though it was a choice, I still did not have any inside information of what it would be like, and the requirements and specifics of the Army. It wasn't until 2005 when I decided to join the United States Army that all my concerns and questions were answered by a recruit; and I was guided through the whole process to enter and prep for the Army. If it was not for the confidences and motivation of my recruiter back in 2005, I might have not made my leap and probably would not be in this uniform today. Becoming a member of the United States Army recruiting team means having a physical and mental toughness in order to perform efficiently.
