The political objectives, ideology, and worldview of Al Qaeda (AQ) was ever evolving. Being that AQ was born from radical ideas and thought its formulation processes, all three of those have the same outlook on possibilities that could adversely impact anyone who is not of Muslim faith or those that may oppose the Jihadist way of life. According to our text, the Soviet-Afghan War was the jumping off point of how Osama bin Laden came to be the AQ leader along with those who jumped on his Jihadist band wagon. The political objectives were that of dominating those that were weak, those who were weak were the ones who would either become part of the movement in some way or another, or be killed for non-compliance. But it wasn’t always like that, Osama was a Saudi, he didn’t like what he saw in the way of the Afghan people being overrun by the Soviets. So he traveled to Afghanistan to help with the war, and in doing so fell under the influence of Abdallah Azzam, so I believe that it is not the political views, objectives, and ideology of just one person, but that it is all of the above from those who influenced the organization the most. The United States flew into reaction mode after 9/11 thus “attacking a Muslim Country”, the locals resisted this attack by insurgents attacking US military, a long-term war is still upon us going on 15 years, and finally sleeper cells are in active existence all over the world.
