My biography book report is about Alexander the Great. Alexander of Macedon was born in 356 B.C. His father was King Philip II had many wives. Alexander’s mother was Philip’s favorite wife. He grew up thinking he was the son of Zeus. At age twelve, Alexander rode a horse that his father thought was un-ridable. When he was sixteen in 340 B.C., he beat back the enemy tribe called the Maedi. He was only twenty when his father was murdered. Alexander became king after his death. Alexander longed to fight the Persians. He crossed the sea to meet his father’s best military general, Parmenion. In Alexander’s first battle, he was almost killed by two Persian soldiers. His teacher was Aristotle; Alexander loved learning knowledge. He went on with war campaigns throughout Asia. He kept on beating the Persians. King Darius III, a Persian enemy of Alexander, was murdered because he failed at waging war. Alexander conquered Persia and went on a conquest to capture India. However, his soldiers were tired and fed up with the duration of the war. They made him turn back, but on the way back Alexander died. As one legend goes, he and his men were in the desert and were very thirsty. One of his men found water and tried to give it to Alexander, but Alexander refused it saying that if they suffered he would suffer too. If I could ask Alexander the Great one question, it would be, “How did you die?” I would ask him this question because it has been debated by many scholars. Alexander was 33 years old when he died on the way back from India. After reading his biography I am curious to know why he died so suddenly and at such a young age. If he were to answer back, he might say he was shot by an arrow. Or he might say he drank too much wine, or he got yellow fever, a deadly disease caused by
