Amelia Earhart’s Mysterious Death “A women must try to do things as men have tried. When they fail their failure must be but a challenge to others.” (Amelia Earhart) Amelia Earhart was born on July 24,1897 in Atchison Kansas. She was one of the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Lastly Earhart had set seven women's speed and distance records in 1930 and 1935. The mystery behind Amelia Earhart can be summed up in two theories: She had ran out of gas and crashed and that the Japanese shot down her plane and took her captive.
While, the death of Amelia Earhart still remains a mystery in american history but before we get into that let’s start from the very beginning. “Earhart attended an air show and paid $10 to ride on a plane. She fell in love with the feeling of flying and signed up immediately for lessons.” (Earhart,Amelia). “In california in the 1960 San Mateo Times had an article out about a japanese women who had two american flyers, she said that it was a man and a women”(Earhart Spy?). People say that Earhart was spying on the Japanese - held island in the Pacific (Earhart,Amelia). In fact, “When the Japanese learned of her mission they shot down the plane and took her captive”(Earhart Disappearance). A CBS broadcaster “Fred Goerner” went to Saipan and other residents they gave the same story but they told him that they executed Earhart and Noonan(Amelia Earhart). Many residents had said that Earhart was at a prison until she passed away from dysentery (Pelt 211). Based on these facts this theory shows how people think that the Japanese killed Earhart.
