Due to the increasing popularity of food from other cultures, Americans are beginning to consume more see foods i.e. shell fishes and fish. Popular among the fishes consumed in America is Tuna, which is a rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids. 1Tuna is a good source of dietary protein; it is low in saturated fat and calories compared to other sources of protein, other nutrients found in tuna are vitamins A, B12 and D; among its mineral content are calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, sodium and potassium. Tuna also contains some amount of cholesterol. 2Clearly from all the nutrients coming from tuna consumers stand to gain a lot of health benefits from eating them. The human body cannot produce omega 3 fatty acids, which are essential fatty acids; the human body acquires them through the food we eat. Omega 3 fatty acids play an important role in brain development, normal growth and development.
