The American education system has become a much debated topic in recent years. Anything from the budget to standardized testing is all up for discussion. It seems the more that time continues the more we see a decline in the quality of how we are educating the next generations. As we look to the past we can see that people were better educated in the fifties and sixties. Either work force education or higher education, people were more prepared for the careers they would lead into and spend much of their time working on. This made it easier for those in poverty to escape it through hard work. Is this really the best way to educate Americas children? My question I would like to have answered, is the current education system working for educating American Children, or is there a better way that we should adopt in all schools. This topic is a very personal to me. The traditional education system did not work for how I learned best and the different situations that arose in my life during my adolescent years. Around my Sophomore year of high school I became very sick, both with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and I was diagnosed with a skull malformation that required surgery to correct. With both of these in full force, I was only able to attend roughly sixty percent of all school days. This made keeping up in the classes I was taking a very difficult task. One which I eventually failed at. After many months of recovery, it became time for me to return to school. There were many options that my parents and I considered. A non-traditional route of online schooling was the one that worked best for how I learned and worked best for my
