The performance of participants has many different factors to it, one example is how coaches treat them. When coaches act as a friend or motivator they need to reassured with positive attitude from their coach, to enable them to do well with high confidence. This could include positive comments and helping with nerves before matches and games.
Good communication from the coach is one way that a participant’s performance can be affected. Coaches need the responsibility of skill development, by becoming a friend of the participants and building a relationship in order to be able to communicate well. This means the coach not shouting angrily and with negative comments. This allows the players to listen well to the coach and take feedback in order to improve, as well as this participants need positive comments too to allow them to build confidence. An example of a good communicator is Tracey Neville, the coach of the England netball team. She builds relationships with team players, so that it is easier to give feedback and to communicate.

If the coach is organised it will result in the participants being organised too. This will include knowing dates and times and having correct kit for the team. This will improve the performance as the players will feel less stressed, and have less to worry about. If the players and teams know the dates and times of training sessions too will also help with improving areas that need to be improved, as this is the time and place for feedback.
