Coaching requires a lot of knowledge about the sport and a lot of experience with the sport. Being a coach means that you have to understand the situations that the players are put in because you yourself should know the pain and pressures of the players because you were once in their positions.You should inquire the thoughts of the players and use them to help develop the players with getting/being better at the sport that they love and have a passion and the desire to keep doing. Players should look up to coaches and the coaches should be able to help the players out with their mistakes and errors. Individuals always have better strengths and are stronger than others in certain areas, by having a team of individuals made up of all different strengths can be a better opportunity and chance for your team to be stronger. We can see this happening in the prompt “Revisting the Remarkable Legacy of John Wooden, the Greatest Coach of them All,” when “Wooden was able to win his first NCAA title in 1964 behind a full-court press and a starting lineup that did not include a player taller than 6’5” (Davis 3). This quote tells us that John Wooden didn’t care how his players looked, he just wanted what was best for his team. The more variety of players, the better the team will be. It’s just like the concept of “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover,” you should not base someone off of how they look. Always giving people a shot at life. This quote also shows that people are very much capable of anything and everything, no matter their size or looks. The height or size of players doesn’t matter, it’s about the training they receive from their coaches and how they are going to work up from their mistakes and errors. A historical event/person that is much similar to a situation like this is Rosa Parks. People thought that Rosa Parks didn’t look capable of anything until she started the boycotting of the busses, so that black people could not sit at the back of the bus or stand. Rosa Parks was able to get to her goal by boycotting and she created a journey of equality along the way for not just black people, but black women. She set an example for the future and she was very much judged based on her skin color. People didn’t believe in her, but do you see where she got into life? She was able to get very far and set an example for others, just like John Wooden was able to in his coaching career. They both were able to develop on their mistakes and able to learn from
