D1/D2/A1 This piece of work will be focusing on a child aged 18 months starting a nursery day care setting. The two key issues that will be looked at in this assignment will be planning, preparing and reviewing for the child to settling into the setting. Secondly I will be looking into the child’s emotional support that the child may need when starting the setting, along with the attachments of the child that will need to be built or have already been put in place. When planning for a child to start a new setting there will be certain things that will need to be taken into consideration, for example; the child at hand may have never been separated from their primary carers beforehand.
Spaces must tolerate movement and noise generated by the child. Children, like adults, are influenced in how they feel and behave by the total environment and the physical setting in particular. Adults notice order and cleanliness; children notice small spaces to crawl into or materials to make something out of. A large open area may be an invitation to run if it is of the right scale and proportion; but it also can create sense of fear and loneliness if the proportions are beyond in relation to children. The physical setting acts as a deciding factor- it can support and encourage a child’s curiosity or it can make the experience of exploration much harder for those who are physically incompatible to keep up with the
Therefore, a child is more likely to be curious and explore the environment should there be a haven to return to which is given by the primary caregiver and by allow the child to do this, they will develop

Understanding the needs of child development is fundamental in creating spaces and activities that provide children with opportunities to develop and advance at every age. Children are just as much affected by the physical setting as adults are. The essential role of the setting is understood by the kids only through positive and resourceful interactions with the surroundings. It is known that a spatially well-defined setting can have multi-fold positive effects on the overall results. In recent times, design of such facilities has not been focussed on aiming at an exclusive space that would contribute to the overall development of children.
During this developmental interview, I chose to conduct an observation/interview study with my one of my cousin’s child. This child is a 4 year old girl and will be identified as “child K” in relation to her first name. Her parents had no problem letting me interview her, but I had them stay in the same room as us. The purpose of this interview was to observe the child’s physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development. I observed her behavior and gave her several tests to show how well she has progressed.
By offering children multiple materials and equipment to play with you are allowing them to explore their senses and environment. Children can play with things such as various natural materials like sand and water which can allow them to create open ended opportunities e.g making cakes in the sand or bringing creatures to life underwater. In home corners you can offer children materials and equipment such as cardboard and fabric to create things like dens or a car. This allows children to use their imagination and carry out various types of role
In this essay my intentions are to focus on different policies in childcare settings and how they are important when working with children. It will explore Vygotsky’s (1934) theory in relation to working with children and how they learn through social interaction with others. The essay will then present how surroundings of childhood and experiences of children have transformed in significant ways. All childcare settings should use policies with the purpose of providing healthy and safe surroundings to ensure children develop and learn. Policies are part of the law so they should be followed and have procedures in place to make certain the policies are followed correctly.

We create a positive and secure environment, working to ensure all children feel safe, appreciated and important. We do this by being inclusive, treating each child as an individual and promoting mutual respect. One of the most natural factors of being an Early Years Practitioner is nurturing the children in our care, this is salient in creating healthy attachments in children. We show this by using positive body language when interacting with children, we show them we are interested to help develop their sense of attachment and security. We are sensitive and attend to their needs, children
Introduction Separation Anxiety is a commonly found experience, many children, parents and teachers undergo at the start of the new term or when receiving new students into their care. For some parents and teachers unawares of the consequences for prolonging this experience, the assumption made may be that such an experience will fade away with time, however for children with special needs it may become a constant struggle for both child and parent to overcome and may last throughout the year if proper intervention strategies are not put into place. It is important to understand what separation anxiety entails and the aftereffects of a lack of a secure school transition period may result in adverse long term effects on a child, disabling future
My observation took place at 2:45pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Grossmont College Child Development Center. I chose to observe a boy named Adam. When I arrived, most of the children were outside, so I started the observation there. There were three adults and ten children in the outside area and I do not know how many adults and children were inside.
Social and physical environments in the home and the social environment in the classroom impact early childhood development. This paper discusses: the impact of the social environment in the home on early childhood development; the possible negative impact of the physical environment on a preschool child in a Guyanese home; and the impact of a positive social environment in the early childhood classroom. Early childhood development is“a set of concepts, principles, and facts that explain, describe and account for the processes involved in change from immature to mature status and functioning.” (Katz, 1996, p. 7) The physical environment refers to; the nature of the physical home surroundings including its cleanliness; the safety of the home and the security which the home offers.
“In order for babies to feel secure and relate to other babies they need what is called a primary caregiver and continuity of care. Free play in a safe, developmentally appropriate environment with peers is another basic requirement. The Pikler approach makes a case for a firm surface where babies can be with each other and free to move. At Pikler Institute, caregivers place babies who are past the newborn stage on their backs in a playpen large enough for a group. In the play area a small number of very simple play objects lie within reach.
Understand the neighbourhood by the visitors lead to create public space and thirdspace. Thirdspace, where users created their own space to communicate, socialise, and exchange the cultural behaviours (Soja, 1996). Interior design is one the important thirdspace elements. The identity of interior space follows the two types of factors, function and formative identity of place which is linked with the third space theory and interior space follow the identity of that place which consist of architectural style, social impacts and function of the place (Hassan, 2007). Element of interior design, design principles, layout, and arrangement are the elements of the genetic code of the interior design of the coffee shops in Georgetown.
