"The Duty and Jurisdiction of the Government Online by Alliah Smith-Adams When you think of government, what do you think of? Some may think of corrupt politicians, ""unfair"" laws, or taxes. Others may think of order, protection, or social services. Much of this is based on one's perspective. If someone feels cheated or abandoned by the government, they tend to think negatively on government institutions versus someone who is involved and supported by the government. However, there is a third side. The government is a constantly shifting balance of morals, necessary evils, and people. The first thing that must be discussed is what the government’s purpose is.It is the central body of our country and with that position comes certain responsibilities.It provides a police force, national guard, and military to protect us and our interests. In regards to money the government regulates trade, currency, and how large a business can become before it encroaches upon another's right of laissez faire. Much of it is abstract, confusing, and overflowing with vague answers that are difficult to find in its expanding systems. Just like life, it has a wide variety of ""goods"" and ""bads"". No matter how nice a part of the internet may seem, everyone has or will have experience with the trouble that occurs by having an internet presence. *(1-3) A few common problems online for people include privacy, data mining, and dangerous internet challenges. Then you have cyber crimes such as cyber bullying, identity theft, and internet stalkers. All of these can impact one's physical life. The study of those rights and wrongs is called cyberethics. As stated by James H. Moor in his article ""What is Computer Ethics"" he tells readers that in his view of the past form of cyberethics, he sees it as ,""... the analysis of the nature and social impact of computer technology and the corresponding formulation and justification of policies for the ethical use of such technologies."" However, cyberethics is larger than just the individual computer. It covers the systems, programs, and conduct of online activity such as social media. So, how can anyone be held accountable for these moral obligations when they can be entirely
