My reactions and opinions related to the novel Between shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys were conflicted. The reason behind my conflictions were because of the content in the book. The author creates a world in which the main characters believe that there is no hope for a better life. The setting and details create discouraging parts at some points of the novel, and then the author will make a point in the novel that makes you want to read more. The main character, Lina, portrays a world that she lives in that love is the only reason for the characters in the book to survive which can be confusing to the reader. Overall the book has points in which it can be hard to read but the characters and the plot of the story help complete the story in
