In “Enough about You”, Brian Williams, journalist and anchor states that Americans became selfish and not interested in anything that does not involve them due to the use of the social media. He believes people will not be informed about crucial events around the world, because they will only read about things they care about: “with the ability to tailor our media consumption today to only those sources that reflect our already held view, we may be missing out on alternative perspectives ‘that citizens in an informed democracy need to know” (472). It is a great communication tool, especially for families and friends living far away. In addition, Facebook helps meeting new people, because frequently it’s easier to start conservation on-line than face to face. With all these positive aspects there are several concerns. First is cyber-bullying: there aren’t many moderators to control what had been said and some could become innocent victims due to appearance or beliefs. Numerous parents do not have accounts of their own, thus they are clueless when it comes to what children and teens post. Second, virtual communication takes place of real life meetings: “friends” check multiple, daily posts, and decide there is no need to call or visit each other.
