David Suzuki’s essay “It Always Costs” (1989) he uses a first person point of view as well as including examples of technological innovations to ague how there is no such thing as problem free technology, as it always comes with a cost. Suzuki’s uses deductive reasoning as his general statement is followed by examples of reason. Such as how an ingenious development like DDT can cause unexpected consequences. DTT was a revolutionary chemical because by killing malaria carrying mosquitos it saved millions of people. Mosquitos soon became resistant and the only approach was to use more chemical sprays. Deaths of many birds were due to bio magnification caused by the extraneous amounts of toxins in water. Suzuki acknowledges how his faith on “predictive
