Jeffrey Goldberg’s Article “The Case for More Guns (and More Gun Control)” he states that multiple examples of shooting where gun control could have been a major factor in preventing these shootings. Goldberg states here that when Tom Mauser became gun-control activists after his son was killed it showed a lot of that emotion that ethos is talking about with the tragedy. There was lot of more push towards more-strict controls on guns that helped shift the cultures keeping. It showed that fact of how it easy it was to get guns for two kids that were not legal in age. Since that event background checks and among other restrictions have been employed.
In the article, “The Problem Is Guns” by Ryan Cooper, he discusses the recent mass shooting during the musical festival in Las Vegas. Throughout “The Problem Is Guns”, Ryan Cooper uses imagery, logos, and ethos to present the idea that gun regulation is the real problem in America. For example Stephen Paddock opened fire on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel across the music festival. Stephen Paddock killed a total of 59 people and injuring over 500, it was labeled the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
Over the course of history humans always been in war and somehow found a way to kill one another. Weapons have become more and more deadly to the point where we have weapons that can kill less than a second. These weapons are called guns and they have been one of the most controversial subjects in history. Many people think their should be a ban on guns and their are those that think otherwise. Molly Ivins, the woman who wrote “Get a Knife, Get a Dog, but Get Rid of Guns” supports knifes over guns and says that guns only kill but, her essay is put together poorly because of constant use of verbal fallacies such as hasty generalization, oversimplification, and even either-or fallacy.
The general argument made by Paul Waldman in his work, “The Case For Banning Guns,” is that gun control should be put into effect and certain firearms should be banned. More specifically, Waldman argues that abandoning these guns could decrease mass shootings and make America a much safer environment. He writes, “Yes, I’d like to ban guns. Almost all of them, at least the ones in private hands.” In this passage, Paul is suggesting that the United States would be much better off abandoning these weapons that leave communities with so much blood and gore.

With the recent media spotlight currently on the actress Amy Schumer, I decided to select two news stories about her advocacy of gun control. The first article I selected was from the Huffington Post. Their reporter, Kim Bellware, wrote the article “Amy Schumer Calls For a New Approach To Gun Control”. The second article I read was from Townhall.com written by AP News titled “Comic Amy Schumer, Sen. Schumer call for better gun control”. The similarities in these stories are: the background story about the shooting at one of the screening of her movie, her viewpoint of gun control, and Senator Schumer’s proposed legislation on gun control.

The United States constitution states by the 2nd amendment, that all men have the right to bear firearms in order to protect themselves. The gun policy in the US has been widely discussed in broad manners, and after hearing so much from different media outlets, I believe that I am able to make a stand on where I lean towards on this complex subject I do not think fondly of the USA’s gun policy, it has never worked and the whole concept of allowing firearms in a society is a very bad idea. The gun policy fails in every way, and a major problem is that it can be abused by anyone. Without much hesitation, a person can purchase a firearm, which of course is very dangerous.
Gun Control in the United States Gun control in the United States has become a highly contested topic recently due to the mass shootings that have occurred. The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines mass murder as a murder in which four or more people are killed in one incident (Morton). Over the past decade the topic of gun control has been prevalent in new legislation because mass shootings seem more frequent. Statistics reveal that although mass shootings have not become more frequent over the years, they have become deadlier with higher death tolls than ever before. The firearms and ammunition that civilians are able to obtain since the expiration of the Assault Weapons Ban in 2004 have led to the increase in the death toll (Duwe).
This is an academic article that is part of an academic journal entitled “Rural Sociology.” The article utilizes 20 interviews with police officers from a rural sheriff’s department to, provide an indepth examination of how rural police officers in the U.S. view gun control. The article provides many direct quotes from active and retired officers. This one is from a officer named Kent who has been working with law enforcement for nearly 40 years. “I would say that [rural upbringing] probably does have some influence on it [views of gun control], because I'm thinking, “Why would you have to take a weapon away from somebody that is well-versed in how it's to be used in the proper ways?”
Owning guns in the United States is not a novel concept. What seems to be changing is the awareness of the American people of the dangers guns possibly pose; heightened awareness brought on by news breaking stories about large mass shootings have sparked major controversy in regards to the nation’s gun regulations and accessibility. In a Ted Talk given by Dan Gross: Why Gun Violence Can’t be Our New Normal in Vancouver, British Columbia, Gross boldly states his unwillingness to accept gun violence as a societal norm in the US and in his Ted Talk argues that gun violence may be greatly reduced if guns were managed and regulated properly, and by putting in place Brady background checks nationwide to ensure that guns will truly be kept away from
Gun control problems Nowadays, we can hear the crimes related to guns from time to time, and each of them is scarified and influential. For example, the accident happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School leads to 20 deaths for primacy school students and 6 deaths for staffs. It is hard to imagine what degree of sadness in their family may suffer. In this way, many people think the government should have stronger gun control regulations.
Gun control in the US Guns in the United States is a very big problem, due to the fact that almost everyone in the United States can buy guns, which is a problem if the wrong people gets hold of a gun. Because everyone can buy guns, is it a matter of time before the wrong person gets a hold of a weapon. Also there’s as many guns as people in the United States. An example on that is school shootings, because to some who are not so mentally stable and therefore they go crazy with a gun at a school, witch is a problem Obama wants to solve quickly.

Today’s politicians have it all wrong when it comes to the gun control battle, and the fight to ban gun access across America. America as a country owns more firearms than any other country in the world. Currently people in the United States feel that their second amendment rights do not hold the weight that they used to . Washington believes the violence comes from the guns; however, it takes a human being to pull the trigger. That is the same as saying the car killed the man and not the drunk driver inside.
