In “Inventing the University” by David Bartholomae written in the year of 1986 he tries to tie in the significance on how each and every student should write. Reading Bartholomae’s paper brought my attention towards the audience. Who he purposely made this for and why. Bartholomae wrote this for teachers to understand his point and for the teachers to provide this point to students to understand how writing should correctly be done. Bartholomae's reading provides three different example of university students, each one of these had errors.
John Kaag begins his article by stating that the desire of any “good student” is to be told that they’re paper was “flawless.” He then goes on to recount his experience during the 9th grade of being told exactly that, and how when he told his mother, she became upset and decided to show him the error of his ways. He says that from this experience he learned the value of criticism. From this point on he talks about his first case of writers block and of how writing forces you to look inwardly.
President Truman felt the tragedy of the Jews and refugees conditions in the Middle East and Europe. Truman felt that the remedy for the Jews was by reserving a partial region of Palestine for the Jews to inhabit. He later on conceded, that he was aware of how the Arabs would show retaliation against the Jews living in their country. Just like the president before him, he promised that he would take no action without fully consulting the Arabs, and he reneged. Richard Murphy's "Anorexia: A Cheating Disorder." is an essay that uses an ethos driven language to communicate the "perversity" of plagiarism in school writing assignments. The need to communicate is kindled by contrasting two writing papers that present accomplishments and incompetency at the same time due to "discontinuities" in the sentences. The foundation of this essay rests on a circumstantial evidence found through a paper turned in by a male student in the past, which leads to questioning the credibility of a female student's paper in the future, only for Murphy to discover later that it wasn't plagiarized. Not So Fast” Andrea Lunsford researched students’ writing for 30-plus years to see what effect new technology has on how students learn. Lunsford discovered that students are actually improving their own writing skills with the help of mass media. Not only does it allow students more access to educational resources and information, but it also encourages students to do more creative thinking and writing outside of class which Lunsford refers to in her article as “life writing.” In her research she recalls the account of a student who sent a friend a text message which was completely informal and would be considered unprofessional by most piers. However, the same student also sent a very formal and professional report to her faculty adviser later on.

Module Three Rough Draft One of the most common problems in our schooling system is that students cheat. This happens a lot with older students who struggle with the topic that their assignment is on. In “The Shadow Scholar” by Ed Dante, and “Introduction: Fraud and Fundamental Misunderstandings” by Shane Borrowman shows how students cheat to move on in their education. In both of these texts the authors tell their first-hand stories of their different students cheating.
In “This Pen for Hire: Grinding Out Papers for College Students.” the main character seems proud to call herself “an academic call girl,” comparing herself to a specific type of “prostitute” whom is very accommodating (276). Just listening to how easy it is for students to purchase these types of services; is very demeaning for all to strive to submit honest work. According to Witherspoon, the different countries government are unable to prevent or discourage businesses such as “Tailor made” to cease just as long as the academic essays are not use for plagiarism (280).
Article Analysis: The Importance of Writing Badly Bruce Ballenger’s article titled “The Importance of Writing Badly” takes a rather peculiar approach to addressing the issue of effective writing. The author eccentrically argues for the importance of ‘bad writing’ by describing different reasons to support his arguments. He argues that it is normal to apportion blames without understanding the root causes of poor writing skills. The author quotes different people who have expressed concerns about poor writing among students including his doctor. He proceeds by explaining why he would encourage his students not to concentrate on their poor writing experiences.
The nature of cheating originates from the common misconception of helping others and a student’s lack of self-confidence. Plagiarism, not so different from cheating, disperses from the broad range of information on today’s technology. Through an authentic study, it has been revealed that teachers have established many students who have cheated their way through complexed assignments. Even misleading students who have kept a high grade point average has been found as participants of academic dishonesty. Today, professors seek to find different measures that should be taken to decrease cheating and plagiarism.

She decides to conduct another one twenty five years later to see how much the writing skills have changed since technology has been updated and became more available to students. She found that “students today are writing more than ever before.” Although we still have the same amount of writing errors as before, the patterns of errors are different. Many people argue that technology is only making our writing skill worse, this study helps to prove a different theory.
