Andrew Jackson was an autocratic leader because of the Indian Removal Act, the Spoils System, and the National Bank Controversy. The Indians are being moved so much, and now Jackson decided to remove them completely from their land. In the second document, there is a letter from the Indians to the Americans that says they have been moved so much and they hate it. It also states that the Indians have been allies with Americans for years and now they have decided to move them into a tiny piece of land. The Americans have no right to push Indians around like that and on top of everything, Indians have been amazing allies with us and we just keep moving them around. This is bad because he treats people like they are pigs and he can “tame” anything/anyone. In the third document, he denied the truth because people said that he only put his friends in government. It was true that the only people in government were coincidentally his best friends. That was wrong because of course they will agree with everything that he says. These are two more reasons why Jackson was an autocrat. The National Bank Controversy is when Jackson wanted people that are not just rich running banks. That sounds good, but the things that he did with that process were very bad. In the first document, he stands on the U.S. Constitution. He is also holding a paper that says “veto” and is dressed like a king. This shows that he is being portrayed as King George III, which is the last thing the United States wanted. In document three, Jackson sent a letter to someone that stated he wanted to change how the banks were controlled because rich people were the only ones that could control the bank. The man sent back a letter stating that Jackson’s idea might be “mixing up” the way classes are
