Did you know that China is opening a new Mcdonalds every day for the next 3 years according to Peter Rodwell, company president for Asia, said in an interview in Singapore on July 29, 2011 (Bloomberg.com)? This clearly means that 1095 Mcdonald's will be added to the already large number of restaurants there. Mcdonald's would occupy China’s land. It is quite surprising how fast food impacts many people in their daily lives. One of the major ways fast food has impacted society is by promoting animal cruelty, causing health issues, and affecting food quality.

Another quote relating to this topic is, “The fast food companies do not care about the animals, they only care about the cost and efficiency of the process. Because of this, animals are being kept in very close, and unsanitary quarters. Not only are some animals being mistreated for the sake of efficiency, but sometimes it is completely unnecessary.” Unfortunately many animals raised for food do not have freedom to live an unconfined humane life. According to Healthline.com, fast food contributes to 13 major effects on the body. Fast food does not have any nutritional value and is “often highly processed”. Fast food also “contains large amounts of carbohydrates, added sugar, unhealthy fats, and salt (sodium). ”This ultimately leads to obesity, “a risk factor for a variety of chronic health problems including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.” In fact, a recent study has shown that if you live within walking distance from a fast food restaurant, you have a 13 percent higher chance of getting a stroke, according to Buzzle.com.

Lastly, fast food restaurants have some of the worst food quality compared to a wide majority of restaurants in the world. According to Chew on This by Eric Schlosser, fast food is frozen, assembled, and packaged. One quote supporting this idea is;
