I like to volunteer in a peaceful and quiet environment because it will help me gain motivation and dedication. The mission statements of Animal Friends of the Valleys are “dedicated to promoting humane care of animals through education and a humane, pro-active animal services program. They are committed to preventing the suffering of animals and to ending pet overpopulation.” Every animal needs a home, otherwise, we will most likely see a stray animal in the street without food and water, and how will they be able to survive? When I think of this situation, it makes me feel sad. What is the reason that the owner of the animal has to abandon them? I choose my areas of interest to decide on what types of service learning position I should do, seems it would be my very first time got to experience in what it would be like to interacting with animals in the shelter helping them grooming and bathing. I think the task should not be as difficult as it sounds. It should be fun and interesting. I am looking forward to my first day. The organization of Animal Friends of the Valley has a way to keeping the animal in a healthy status; they offer benefits such as vaccination clinic, spay and neuter are the most important ones for the people take their animals to do a simple checkup.
