The SAU teaching domains that are addressed with the Animal Habitats WebQuest are instruction, technology, and assessment. This WebQuest was created in EDU 360- Integrating Technology in Teaching on June 10, 2017. The Animal Habitats WebQuest is a lesson that was developed to help third grade students learn about animal habitats. In previous weeks, we have talked about many different types of animals, and each student wrote a brief report about the animal that they researched. The students are required to explore numerous websites in order to find information about the seven major habitats. Since this is their first time using a WebQuest, the websites have been provided to the students. Nevertheless, they are asked to explore each website and find specific information about that habitat. Furthermore, at the end of the lesson, the students are asked to create a PowerPoint presentation, which will help them become more familiar with creating a PowerPoint. The instruction domain may not be clearly defined in the actual WebQuest, but prior to exploring, the students will participate in a mini-lesson on how to navigate a WebQuest. Finally, the assessment domain is evident in the PowerPoint presentation that the students will be creating. I also needed to have excellent lesson planning skills, in order to create a lesson that would meet the needs of all of my students. Finally, I had to have some knowledge about inquiry, as this assignment is helping students begin the inquiry process. As aforementioned, the students are responsible for navigating the Animal Habitats WebQuest, and completing the corresponding worksheets. Following this activity, they will find a partner and work together to create a new animal. Once they have done this, they will create a PowerPoint explaining their new animal and the habitat in which it lives. My students learned about the seven major animal habitats, as well as how to navigate a webpage that has multiple internal links. Furthermore, they learned how to pick out specific information from a paragraph. Finally, they learned how to work together with a partner to create a new animal and the corresponding PowerPoint. While completing this WebQuest, I learned about the importance of creating a lesson that uses technology in a positive way. I also learned how to translate my lesson ideas into a technological format. Finally, I learned that when creating or adapting a WebQuest, it is important that the corresponding
