My Writing Class Reflection

Throughout this class I have made tremendous changes in my writing. At the beginning of class thought I knew everything there was to know about writing a paper. I had no clue that I was lacking some of the key writing skills to a paper like details, correct grammar structure, and word choice. This class has also changed my word choice in my papers. Before this class I continuously used the same words in my writing, and I now switch my word choice along with my punctuation. I have learned to pay attention to small details in my papers compared to when I first started out I just looked at the main idea and did not specify. Knowing now that details can make or break a paper has really changed the way I write. This class has taught me to become an efficient writer as well, and I am able to work on a strict deadline compared to before. …show more content…

For example the NOREDINK website was a excellent tool I used when I had questions about grammar. I learned a lot of useful and helpful information that I can continue to add to my writing. Another thing that made me into a better writer was our lessons over grammar that we covered in the first quarter. I think that those topics made me think more about the rules of commas and correct punctuation. Before I had taken the class I just put random commas in places, and now I have more of an idea of where to place commas in sentences. Although there were many great things in this class, I think there were a few things that could have been done differently. I think that we should have slowed down on our comma rules and grammar and taken more time to understand them fully. I did learn some of the comma rules but I did not learn and fully understand all of them. I suggestion I have is to have CPW I be full of comma and grammar rules, while CPW II is for writing papers and applying what you have
