When we were a child, we received multiple immunization shots, right? These shots and vaccines protect you from a wide range of illnesses and diseases. And all of these are made possible because of the medical research on animals taking place in laboratories all across the globe. Animal testing is the use of animals as biological models to test new medical drugs and procedures. Experimentation on animals date back to as early as 500 BC, making this form of medical validation one of the oldest known to humans. It is not only one of the oldest but one of the most informative. I stand firmly on the side of having animals for testing. Animal testing has played a part in many major medical advances, including the development of antibiotics, vaccines, …show more content…
They assert that animal testing is useless because of the many cellular and anatomical differences between the human and the animal test subject. This statement is further supported by the 2013 study in the Archives of Toxicology that states that the lack of direct comparison between human data and that of a mouse makes the credibility of research data unreliable. Nevertheless, animal testing tries to ensure the safe use of medical drugs and other products by the public. As soon as a drug is produced, it is sent to animal testing laboratories and tested for safety. When the drug is deemed safe-to-use, scientists then send it to test on a human test subject, then to the general public. For the past 20 years, animal testing laboratories have recalled many drugs that did not undergo testing because they found problems with it. Later research studies showed that the recalled drugs were actually dangerous, and would have harmed numerous people had it not been recalled and improved. Animal testing is the most logical and humane way of trying out new drugs, vaccines, and other medicines. Leading scientists also believe this practice to be the most rational decision. Accordingly, I believe that testing on animals is the safest, most reasonable and humane way to test new drugs and ensure public
