A. Community based parenting group help new parents transition in to parenting with the support of other mothers. Eileen Guest, and Diana Keatinge, wrote an article in 2009, The Value of New Parent Groups in Child and Family Health Nursing. The authors conduct research on mothers and their children from Australia. The research looks at the impact of parenting group in Australia from new mothers and their babies. They looked at four things.
a. How participating in the groups impacted the mothers.
b. They looked at what mothers thought about the group adn how it helped them interact with their babies.
c. They talked to the mother’s nurses to see how they thought the program helped the mother and child and

The Value of New Parent Groups in Child and Family Health Nursing researches the mothers view the support they are getting from parenting groups.
Point #1 They recruited first time mothers with babies younger than 4 months. The mothers that were recruited from the Child and Family Health center in Australia. The reached out to the mothers through their nurses. They ended up with 5 mothers in the study
Point #2 The others looked at four things.
a. How participating in the groups impacted the mothers. They found that mothers who attended Reported being provided with three opportunities.
i. The opportunities were the nurse teaching them how to be sensitive and responsive, the group taught real expectations of motherhood, and being taught how to pick up on their infants cues.
b. They looked at what mothers thought about the group and how it helped them interact with their babies. The mothers reported that because of the program they were able to tackle any situation that arose because it was mentioned to them in the program. They also reported the program help build their confidence and knowledge when it came to parenting.
c. They talked to the mother’s nurses to see how they thought the program helped the mother and child
