Today, anxiety is a common problem that college students face. Problems caused by the students’ peers, studies, and even their everyday lives are all factors that can result in one having anxiety or even worse, these problems can lead to one having anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders are probably one of the most common or regularly occurring problems facing college students. This disorder can include phobias, feelings of insecurity, and even social anxiety, which drains one’s energy resources keeping the body in a constant state of stress. Because of this people may tend to become hot-tempered and somewhat unapproachable. Just like depression, panic disorders and anxiety disorder often run in families. As a result, genetics, biochemical and environmental factors may also be a reason for a student to have anxiety disorders.

According to Mr. Ebtehaj, yoga can be broken down into two parts, “…The first is composed of very physical and dynamic activities. The other one is a mental component.” For the first part of yoga, the physical and dynamic part, one does plenty of stretching and yoga poses. These poses can help stretch the muscles which in turn relaxes any stiff muscles in one’s body causing any accumulated stress to be released. According to Mr. Ebtehaj, zby doing yoga one will be able to learn to focus on one topic such as yourself or your body. By doing so one will be able to learn to focus one’s attention in the present, in one’s body and in one’s good feeling thoughts. So when a person practices yoga on a regular basis the persons’ muscle memory will remember how to relax and how to release tension. To top it off, by regularly practicing yoga one is able to relieve one’s self from any difficulties one tends to face in everyday life and it helps rejuvenate his body and mind (American Yoga Association,
