Education is the core to all knowledge-based economy, and it is without doubt very central for refined and innovative products and services. It is key that countries value education and development highly since its decisive for how the futuristic society will look like. EU, which involves many countries, have the need to find a reasonable and sustainable strategy for how they wish to develop and integrate education. This is both to create a common society for all countries, but also to prevent disintegration, poverty and uneven distribution of wealth resources. It is important that EU use this instrument to identify the “skill” levels of each country, so that this can be a driver to increasing global economic integration. The statistics show drop outs in the year 2008 and 2013 as well as the so called “Europe 2020” targets. As you can see Spain and Portugal are relatively high with 32% and 35% in 2008. Obviously this has a connection with the high unemployment rate as well as their financial situation, since people have lost faith in taking a higher degree due to not getting a job. What is interesting is that despite having a excellent economy, Norway have a dropout rate at approximately 17% in 2008. Although it is not dangerously high, it is worth to take note of. Overall we can see a slight decrease in dropouts in almost every country, and with the continuous decrease, the Europe 2020 targets are reachable. It is important for the Europe 2020 strategy to focus on the big issues in for instance Spain and Portugal, and as a result of that you can see higher expectations for those certain countries. One can see that both Spain and Portugal are on the right track with an average decrease of approximately 15% in the timespan
