AP courses are supposed to be hard. Their curriculums were designed by the Collegeboard to challenge motivated students and build up essential academic skills. However, aspects like the cost of taking AP exams, Arlington’s policy requiring students to take the AP exam with the course, and the north’s late school year start often create unintentional difficulties, adding stress to already difficult classes. To start, the exam themselves are expensive. At $94 per exam, even students who are able to afford the fee might think twice about dropping hundreds of dollars on AP exams.
I am taking an AP course this year, and despite taking this course, I have been able to

Ap courses are of offered all over the country to high school students to take. Ap class are very hard and rigorous courses to take so, are they worth it for a high school student? Throughout all of my years at school, I have been constantly reminded by my parents that I must do my very best in school so that my college will be paid for, because they wouldn’t have enough money to put me through. The ASPMA Scholarship would mean a lot to me as it would help me greatly and enhance my college experience by allowing me to have the highest possible grades, help me grow into an involved, more social person, and relieve some stress that inevitably comes to every college student. Since I would rather not assume student loans during college, I must work if my scholarships don’t cover all of my school expenses. The more I work, the less time I will have to study, and the more stressed out I will be. I believe the ASPMA Scholarship will help me to have the best grades possible because with more funds, I will have to work less, giving me more time to study and less scenarios to worry about.
Finally, I am optimistic because I like to make the people around me happy too. I would love to be a part of the National Honor Junior Society because it will give me more opportunities to be a leader and participate in community services and also to help the people around me. I hope I can receive the chance to participate in this program and I have worked really hard for this opportunity so I hope you will accept this application
Being a successful AP student can be a lot of work, and sometimes it is not fun, but the reward is worth the pain. Many people are AP students and there are many different views on what it takes to be an accomplished one. The all-time best way to become successful in any AP class is the simple tactic of repetition. Repetition will get you through the year with good grades and successful preparation, and it will be most beneficial when it comes to test time.
Since my time as ACS, I have participated in every show ever done at my school, as well as every theater class offered, and concert choir. Another way ACS instilled lifelong learning in me was by offering a variety of electives to take through the years. Through my 9 years there, I participated in music, physical education, art, scrapbooking, Spanish class, as well as theater, so I was exposed to many different opportunities. Even if gym class is not my strong suit, I at least got to try something new and exciting, and even if I am not the greatest artist, I learned many different techniques. ACS encouraged me to try new things, and challenge myself to become a well-rounded
I am excited for the opportunity to apply to the Public Affairs doctoral program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I had the pleasure of speaking with a colleague, Dr. Doris Watson, Associate Dean of the College of Education, about my aspirations to receive a doctoral degree and she encouraged me to look at UNLV’s Public Affairs program. The more I researched the program, the more I felt as though it would be a perfect fit for me. When thinking about the reasons why I have chosen to pursue my doctoral degree I reflect on a speech President Obama gave at Barnard College’s 2012 Commencement, stating “Don’t just get involved. Fight for your seat at the table.
I am currently taking 4 AP classes - Calculus BC, Physics 1, English, and Computer Science and carrying a 4.5 GPA. My test scores rank in the 99th percentile (PSAT 1470 and SAT 1500). I’ve taken an Intro to Databases class at a local community college. Additionally, I taught myself Python using online resources and went on to intern at ThinkTank, where I used my knowledge to create a web scraper. I also volunteer at a Girls Who Code club, where I teach middle school girls how to program in JavaScript.
Goal orientation theory has emerged as a dominant theoretical framework for studying motivation and competence in academic achievement. Also known as Achievement Goals, according to McKinney (2003), it is as a construct that reflects internal motivational processes which then affect an individual 's task choice, self-set goals, and effort mechanisms in learning and performance contexts. A person’s achievement goal is said to represent his or her own purpose for engaging behavior in an achievement situation (Phan, 2008). Initially, achievement goal theorists used a mastery-performance goal dichotomy in accounting for competence-based strivings. Mastery-oriented people are driven to increase competence, understanding, and appreciation for what is being learned (Covington, 2000).
Did you know that in 2016, about 23% of test takers scored a 1 out of 5 on the AP Computer Science exam? Because, coincidentally, my first grade of the year in APCS was also a 23%. Last year, I decided to take AP Computer Science. I didn’t have much experience, but I liked the idea of coding. Over-confident, I thought that the class might be a bit challenging, but as long as I studied a little I would easily get an A. Turns out, it was a lot harder than I expected.
Giving Praise to Encourage Students’ Motivation is Fundamental Introduction In recent decades, one of the problems faced by students is how to build up their motivation. Encouraging students’ motivation is essential to increase their performance and involvement in classroom activities. Academic performance, inappropriate behaviour and unproductive classrooms are all related to motivation issues. Motivation is needed to promote students’ interest and attitude in order to help them realize their potential and improve their desire to study hard.
Why have you chosen to study this academic programme (up to 100 words)? Clinical psychology is a field that fascinates and challenges me. I am sure I would succeed in this career as I have excellent communication skills and a compassionate and sensitive approach when dealing with others.
