SYNOPSIS
The following article attached is about how babies have shown signs of faster intellect development when a positive male role model was around. Even though it is beneficial to have both a mother and father present in the upbringing of a child, studies have shown that it is a fatherly figure that help encourage a child’s risk-taking and exploration tendencies to improve cognitive development. Moreover, scientists have studied about 128 fathers, videoing them playing with their 3-month old infants, without toys and then during a book reading. Fathers were given a grade based on their interaction, and scientists took into account factors such as income, age and the fathers’ behavior. The studies shown that it did not matter on the gender

The argument of nature vs nurture will say that based on how you grew up will define who you are. Whether you had a good dad or not. The author of the article shows the downfall in this study as well by stating how "children whose fathers displayed more withdrawn and depressive behaviours in father-infant interactions scored lower marks in the cognitive tests," (author, date). The author uses this fact to help empower the study. If fathers were always negative and stressed out around their kids than it does show it has an impact on them, this helps fathers stress the idea of being positive and interactive with the upbringing of their child. In my own opinion it is noticed that negativity can almost seem like an infectious disease. When one person is depressed, it causes everyone around them to feel the same way. So it seems logical to expect a child in a negative environment would grow up to have more stress than they need causing them to worry more in life and do poorly in cognitive studies. The author takes into account of parents who are upset and negative around their children, but what about having a father who is extremely positive and upbeat but simply does not have the time to spend with their kid. It is seen all the time now that parents who are too busy, or parents who just want their kids to be quiet while they are "handling something" will give their kids a piece of technology to play with. Now, technology has its benefits children have access to information, and allow themselves to learn as much as possible at such a young age. However it also has its negatives, households with multiple devices normally cause families to grow distant from each other and have minimal interactions. If a father is still trying to be a positive role model and interact with his kids during book sessions. If he still is handing his kid a piece of technology to help them occupy their minds and time is he still helping
