An advantage of our federal system is the diffusion of power. It has separated the power of our government into three branches and reduced corruption in government. It is also a more efficient way to govern as it allows somethings to be done completely by the states without federal approval. Federalism also shares a lot of its power with state and local governments. This makes citizens able to interact with their government much easier than if it were at a national level. Some disadvantages may include it allows different policies between states. A state such as Montana may have a lower minimum wage than Washington because its the states job to decide. Some view this as being unequal and causing disparity between states. Some also may argue that states have too much power, like the ability to Blok national policies.
