It also includes tips to help you remember to document your sources and some warnings about fair use. The chapter gives an excellent list of sources which do not need to be acknowledged, which include things such as “common knowledge” and your own work (402). We are also given what absolutely must be acknowledged in a list which includes “direct quotations, paraphrases, and summaries, controversial information, information given in only a few sources, and any materials that you did not create yourself” (403).

Referencing is a method to cite information from different sources, and it is beneficial for all authors to provide evidence accurately. There are two most common referencing styles such as Harvard style and APA style, however, the APA style is mostly used in writings related to health science. You should approach your high school english assignments with confidence. If you doubt your own work, it will never get done. When I was an underclassmen in high school, I would often spend hours working on smaller assignments that could be done in thirty or forty minutes. Although the style of writing in AP English weren't realistic to an actual college class, I learned to trust my writing abilities, and use the feedback from my teacher to improve my writing. Never try to write or read when you are tired.

In Writing Project #3, I had to cite many articles that I was getting information from. I didn’t know if the title is in quotation marks that you carry those quotation marks into the citation: “‘They are master manipulators that can manipulate not only naive children, but adults as well: “They target both boys and girls of all ages and use the anonymity of the Internet to their advantage since they can be whomever they want’ (The Facts About Online Predators)” (3).
