I know that the University of Texas at Austin goes beyond academic recognition. It values integrity, positive behavior, and morals of dependable students that I want to help the campus continue. The first time I played a leadership role was when I became an officer for my church youth group. As the committee chair, I take charge in conducting monthly Bible studies. I have realized throughout the process of holding a Bible study that it is a strenuous task. It measures my strength of communication, commitment to my job, and integrity towards the other officers and to the youth members to better their spiritual experience.
Growing up, I always admired the older generation of youth at my church. They were constantly engaged in volunteering and fundraising events, retreats, and Bible studies, activities I hoped to involve myself in. I joined my youth group in my freshman year of high school. As soon as I became a member, I did my best to participate in any activity that was held by the youth. One of the first events I partook in was a southern regional retreat where I met youth members from Dallas, Houston, Austin, and Oklahoma. The positions of Vice President and Secretary were returning members so I hoped that I could be chosen for another position. The officers at the time went through each position as the youth members nominated members that they felt would best represent the church as a leader who could be their voice. When the officers opened the floor for nominations for the committee chair position, the present secretary nominated me for the position. Immediately following, many youth members seconded the nomination and I was honored by the amount of members who supported having me as an officer. As the officers closed the voting ballot, they announced that I was elected as the committee
