1. One of Madison’s proposals that was rejected, was the idea to give Congress the power to veto any state laws. This would have changed the government today because every state law would have to be sent to congress in order to be passed. This would delay the nations lawmaking ability and create a jam. There would be thousands of laws in Congress waiting to be approved and it would end up taking years for one law to be passed. If Madison’s proposal had gone through it would have just increased the bureaucracy in the government. Also ignoring how long it would take for a law to be passed in Congress, state laws are solely enforced in one state, so some laws would not make sense to other states; therefore it would be ridiculous to have congress
