I have always known that I wanted to make a difference in this world, even if it is one person at a time. Becoming a nurse is no longer going to be just a dream of mine, it is now going to become reality. My passion for health is more than a passion, it is my lifestyle. I realized that I want to be an example for the people around me, especially my community. The opportunities within my community that I have been so fortunate to have experienced thus far include volunteering as a coach for little league and high school sports, aiding in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program, helping organize various community events to assist families in need, participating in a fund-raising program, Great Cycle Challenge, in which I was riding to bring awareness in children cancer, and I started a small running group with people looking to improve or continue their healthy lifestyle.
My journey to becoming a Registerned Nurse began in high school honestly. In high school, you have to chose a path that will lead to your career or at least a similar path to what interest you at the time. So the route I chose was the health care route, which I met an amazing teacher and registered nurse. My techer Mrs. High, was a huge influence to my choices even to this day. Christian nurses are given the unique ability to provide compassionate and spiritual care to a variety of patients. The purpose of this paper is to explain my definition of nursing as a caring art, describe how Christian faith impacts caring, describe my personal philosophy of nursing while identifying my own personal values and beliefs, and discus how my beliefs impact my nursing practice. To me, nursing as an art of caring, is defined as caring for the whole person, building meaningful relationships, and providing compassionate care. Holistic nursing care involves healing a person physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I believe the art of nursing is embedded in the steps we take to address problems that are not simply physical.
My Philosophy of Nursing: Holistic Care As a nursing student, I have realized that nursing is not just a profession, but a way of life. It requires a deep understanding and commitment to providing compassionate care to patients in their time of need. For me, the most effective approach to patient care is one that considers the whole person - body, mind, and spirit (Jasemi et al., 2017). This approach, known as holistic care, forms the foundation of my nursing philosophy.
Admission Essay. The idea of becoming a licensed nurse came to me while working in the hospital as an ultrasound sonographer. Starting as a quiet idea at first, I grew more and more passionate about this profession being surrounded by wonderful nurses around me and seeing their utmost care and compassion for the patients. In the world of esthetic work it is always important to stay ahead of the game and continue your education. The beauty industry is constantly changing and evolving. Just within the past 20 years trends have almost flipped; thin brows to thick brows, blue eye shadow to neutral tones. In such a rapidly developing and ever changing field how does one stay educated, and what are the options after basic esthetician training? Thankfully, there are many options to advance your education in the field; attending seminars and lectures by well known professionals in the industry, continuing on to nursing school in order to partake in medical esthetic work, and even taking classes at a university for things such as product development can all be great ways to continue to learn more about this vast industry.
As a first generation student to attend college from a family of seven, the journey to a higher education has been arduous and overwhelming. My family gives me all the encouragement I need and are very optimistic about pursuing a higher degree. Unlike myself, my parents did not have the opportunity to attend college. My parents were born and raised in a small town in Mexico where the highest level of education they received was fifth grade. I have worked since I was 14 years old to support my parents with bills, and also saving for college and my own vehicle.
My Future Career, Nurse Practitioner A nurse practitioner is a nurse with a graduate degree in advanced practice nursing. When I was little I always said I wanted to become a nurse practitioner. It was something about being able to help patients overcome their illnesses that interested me the most.
After learning so much from nursing school it was evident to see that the building blocks for health, learning, understanding, and drive are all in a community setting. For children who spend a majority of their young life in school systems their education to help them succeed in life would come from the school. Children learn key values that they can take away with them such as social and problem solving skills. But, there is also the opportunity to influence a healthy personal life. School nurses can change children’s lives by performing the screening that they do such as general physical exams, having children come into the office if they don’t feel well, caring for chronically ill or handicapped students and answering general questions they may be afraid to ask and getting the correct knowledge back.
Nursing is one of the highest demanded and fast growing professions in the United States, and is female dominated. Although more men are beginning to join the profession. 94.2% of all nurses are represented by females. Only 5.8% are represented by males. Are there more female nurses, because they are the better nurse.
Nursing offers endless opportunities to anyone and it is one of the only fields that will always be in demand. The nursing field has great opportunities available to its employees. One best opportunities that the nursing field provides is that you can work and live anywhere in the U.S. without worrying about money. Nurses make on average $67,490 in 2014 according to a study done by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (Career para 4.)
Why do I want to become a nurse? Nursing, the one job everyone says that is so fulling, and will change your perspective on the world forever. I wanted to be a nurse since the time I was 10 years old, because I saw what they do for others every day. Becoming a nurse was so important to me because, I wanted to do something in my career that is interesting, challenging, and makes a difference in people's lives on a daily basis.
Currently there is a big demand for nurses everywhere throughout the United States. There are also many opportunities in the field regardless of what one may specializing in because all states have a for a need for nurses. Whether one decides to live up north, down south, or out west the possibilities are endless. Some nurses have so much flexibility that they decide what hours they want to work or even what days they want to work. Many nurses also specialize in different areas within the nursing field.
