The number of teenage pregnancies has risen over the few years. If the government were to allow birth control pills to be sold to teenage girls without a prescription it can lower not just the teen pregnancies, but lower the birth rate of the United States in general. If a teen was to get pregnant it would most like;y put them or their family in debt, because of health care costs. A teenage girl would not be able to afford that and would most likely make her get a job afterward instead of making her way into college. In Colorado the teen birth rate had dropped 40 percent between 2009 and 2013, because birth control pills had gotten cheaper. Imagine the major impact if they decide to sell birth control pills without a prescription.
According to a study from Jennifer Frost and Laura Lindberg, who are from the Guttermatch Institute, had discovered that many women use birth control because it can help them attain economic security and expand their education.
