Thanks to PGD, many couples can now create designer babies in order to save their sick child or to prevent their children from getting inherited diseases. The positive outcome is that the child’s unique characteristics remain unchanged. In fact, the child has the right to live at its free will. Every child in this world is unique. They have their distinctive strength and weakness. Some children want to become painters, singers, flight attendants, and so forth. However, not every child wants to be a doctor, a rising movie star, or a famous athlete. If everyone had the same height, intelligence, and personalities, then the world would be a boring place because people are all similar. Therefore, the decision of not having a designer babies will prevent loss of individuality. Furthermore, the whole process is not completely safe or flawless. It is still in developing stage and needs more time to improve. If some errors arise while doctors are carrying out the process, it can lead to a sudden death of unborn children or miscarriages. Even if the child is born, it may develop a new type of disease that worsens the situation. Thus, not having a designer babies can avoid these mishaps. In contrast, the negative consequence is that if the process is done correctly, designer babies will have lesser chance of getting genetic diseases compared to normal babies. In other words, normal babies have a higher chance of getting inherited diseases from parents and thus suffer adverse effects for a long time.
