During this semester we have discussed many controversial topics that come up in science and in religion. We have also discovered that a person can gain truth through science and through revelation. The only time we have absolute truth is through revelation but science brings us closer to understanding how the earth and the organisms living on it interact. Evolution is one of these main topics in science that spilt people but as far as we know, Evolution is the most accepted Theory for the diversity and relatedness of life. It is not merely a theory but it has observations that prove it to be the most correct. Living things are thought to have developed from single cell prokaryotes to the mass variety of organisms that live on earth now and have lived on it in the past. There are only a small number of animals today in comparison to the variety of species throughout history. DNA links every organism together because all living things have DNA. The physical, behavioral, and other traits vary from species to species. Every organism has parents that pass their genes and characteristics to the daughter. From a mutation that makes the population more favorable to isolation, there are different ways that evolution continues. Humans can tell that species are related through their different traits and how they have been passed down or changed over time. Homologies are elements that look the same but each serve a different purpose. An example of this is a bat wing and a human arm. These have different functions; For humans it is climbing and for bats it is flying, but it proves they have a common ancestor because the look is similar. Vestigal traits are elements that no longer serve a purpose but show that they were once valuable for an ancestor. An example of these are the species of whale that were found to have hip bones. This proves that whales once had an ancestor that benefited by the hip
