The argument of same-sex marriage has been one of the most talked about topics among many social and political groups in recent months. The opposing groups are between religious groups and gay rights groups. These groups are in constant debate over what is morally right and what is socially right from a civil right standpoint.
The gay rights movement is contesting that marriage in America should have no restrictions to who’s able to get married, no matter of their gender is. Gay right activists political stands, argues that all states in the United States should recognize gay marriage and it should be a right among the gay and lesbian communities. “Same-sex “marriage” opposes nature. Religious groups also believe that same-sex marriage is morally wrong in the eyes of God and consider it to be a sin of God’s will. “The Catholic Church states that marriage is a sacred institution, with the purpose of creating children. The church finds great conflict between gay marriage and religion. In fact, the Catholic Church has pushed for an all-out legal ban on gay marriage. Many Christian denominations renounce same sex marriage. In fact, churches claim that homosexuality is a sin against God” (Laws.com, 2015).
In my opinion, I feel that this moral issue will test the faith of many Americans and will challenge them to be opened minded about this issue. I believe it’s important to listen to both sides of the debate, so we’ll all be able to express our on view on the topic. By understanding why this issue is important to both side will also allow us as, “American Citizen’s” help decide on which laws need to be change to better our communities, cities and our
