It takes no survey to remove repression.” ― Harvey Milk. Discrimination runs through the veins of every person. It has existed since the beginning of human civilization. Therefore, the topic of whether or not lgbtqa+ people deserve equal rights has gone around spewing up controversy all over the nation. First off, LGBT is loosely represented as Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgenders. Many say yes, lgbtqa+ do deserve equal rights because they are human, and denying them for something that they cannot control is unreasonable. However, just as many are saying no because it goes against the teaching of their God/religion, and that the lgbtqa+ community already has enough rights. Recently, laws have been passed such as marriage equality, and lgbtqa+ being able to adopt in all 50 states. Nonetheless, lgbtqa+ still don 't have protection against employment discrimination, lgbtqa+ can 't donate blood, lgbtqa+ conversion therapy is still practiced, and the result of all of this discrimination is that some lgbtqa+ have committed suicide; therefore, the lgbtqa+ community still doesn 't have all of the rights they deserve. Many lgbtqa+ receive most of their discrimination from their family members. For example, 40 percent of homeless is lgbt, and the cause for this is family rejection. Other types of discrimination lgbtqa+ face are from their peers and the general population. A study showed that kids in grades 7-12 who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual were twice as likely to have attempted suicide as their heterosexual peers. By the same token, one study with 55 transgender youth found that around 25% reported suicide
