Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of this time. It’s argued as pro-life or pro-choice. We tend to lead toward one or the other based on religion, experiences, or family backgrounds. I guess my argument for being pro-life is because of my religion. Abortion is defined as a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy. Termination means you are bringing something to an end. You are ending a human life, and on purpose. People will argue human life begins when the baby is born from a mother's womb. The unborn baby has a heartbeat. A heartbeat indicates that someone is alive. Having an abortion is ending that life. The mother made a choice to have sex and the baby doesn’t get a say. It’s a mother's responsibility to care for that child. Abortion is not fair. Abortion should be illegal because: Statistics don’t lie, the Bible teaches that it’s wrong, the process of abortion is harsh, and murder is illegal.

This kind of abortion is performed after the sixteenth week of pregnancy. “To perform this abortion, the doctor may give the mother a shot to make sure fetus death happens. They would then need to insert laminaria, also known as osmotic dilator (short, thin rods of seaweed), or a synthetic dilator (dilapan) through the cervix twenty-four hours before the procedure. Tenaculum and cone-shaped rods are inserted into the cervix. Numbing is also used so the mother doesn’t feel it. Cannula is inserted to remove tissue from the lining. Curette will be put in the cervix to scrape the lining that will remove residuals. The doctor will suction. The procedure takes fifteen to thirty minutes to do.”
