Standardized Tests
Have you ever been in school and thought to yourself, “Why do we have to take standardized tests?” or “How do these help us?”. There are many negative aspects to standardized testing. Standardized tests negatively affect not just the student, but the teachers, school/school district, parents, and more. There should not be standardized testing due to bias, the negative impact on both the teacher's and student's well-being and the funding it takes away from schools.

Standardized tests are meant to be fair because they are the same, but in truth, they measure if that particular person can answer those particular questions when in reality we should be embracing diversity and differences. For example “ACT works very hard to ensure that its tests are fair to all students. Questions and passages are thoroughly evaluated at multiple stages, both internally and by diverse panels of external experts, to eliminate any potential biases in content, wording, or cultural assumptions.” This shows that some may believe that standardized tests are carefully evaluated like the ACT. They claim it doesn’t have a bias because all the questions on the test are the same for everyone. However, When you think back to the history of standardized tests, and how and by whom they were created, there is immediate bias in the test-making itself. This proves that even though the tests have been “evaluated” they still have a bias at the primary source which contradicts why standardized tests were made in the first
