John F. Kennedy once said, “The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.” To me poverty is a type of slavery without the physical beatings and strains; however, poverty still can take a toll on a person’s mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Poverty is something we all can help overcome. The people that are actually in poverty can find ways to make more money and sacrifice going without something. That is kind of like a saying I live by, “In order to make it sometimes, we have to go without sometimes.” I strongly believe that the state of Georgia should increase the minimum wage. America is the country who pushes for everything to be equal for everyone, but the poor are not given the same chances as the middle and higher classes.
The one thing in life I would like to achieve is a net worth that serves me well. I do not need every stock, credit card, property or car to have a net worth is fit just for me. Net worth is a frequently used measure of wealth, which refers to the value of savings and checking accounts, real estate, automobiles, stocks and bonds, and other assets(6.2). One big thing I strongly believe in is the “rich” people should have to pay more taxes than the poor. Also, how about the poor people receive sixty percent of their income instead of the lousy four percent (6.2). Another policy I would like to see go into is that people should not have to jump through hoops and loops to get assistance. Working at Kroger, I see how people who have WIC or Food Stamps get look down upon. People are so quick to judge what if WIC, EBT, and TANF is the only way a family can survive?
