For those who have graduated from high school and will continue with their higher education, many if not all of these students will have to pay out of pocket for college. Most of students think that if they graduate from college or a four-year university they will have a chance to work in the professional field rather than work for minimum wage. It is an opportunity for anyone, particularly those who have low wages, to earn a degree and make more money. In the article “Expanding Community College Access” from The New York Times, President Obama states that tuition for community college should be free, because the American workforce is not educated enough for the global and national workplace. Why can't college be free? Free college would further every student's education that graduated and completed high school and would give opportunities to those who wish to be successful in the long run. Another article, Pros and Cons of Tuition-Free College, Ellen Andersen claims, “Students might have more freedom to choose a major they enjoy.” This would give students a large variety of opportunities. Without having to waste money if they decide to change their major, that way they can choose a major they are most interested in and succeed, because it is known that most people change their major a few times before actually sticking to one.

The Debate of Whether College Should Be Free or Not Is it fair that students barely beginning their lives as adults are handed massive bills specifically for a college education? Over 1 trillion dollars of debt is owed from student loans in America. It is outrageous that students are being robbed of nearly every cent they own and have to begin their lives in an unsettling amount of debt due to college expenses. While some people believe that college tuition should not be taken away, others disagree and support free colleges in America. College should be free in order to keep students from being in debt, to develop a better economy, and offer a successful future.
Paying for college has been a big problem for people who can’t afford it, or those who wanna attend college. Every year many people drop out due to expense problems. If the government made college free then everyone who wanted to attend a college or couldn’t afford it could finally get to have the opportunity of achieving an higher level of education. Others may think that attending college should not be free because of higher taxes and the fact that people would take their education less serious since college would be free. I feel that college should be free because everyone can't afford it.
College should be free because everyone needs a good education and a better job. There’s many young people working on a low income job and can’t afford themselves. College will make poor young people to have success in life. President Obama once said that he would like to give free education to students because everyone needs it but it hasn’t been a fact yet.
College is one of the most important and life changing times in the life of an American. Leaving high school behind and venturing out to the adult world is an amazing experience that every individual should experience. However, young adults from every corner of the country leave college with crippling debt or do not go to their preferred college of choice. College education should be cheaper as it will help families and students financially and give them the satisfaction with having the opportunity to go to their first choice for college.
Should college be free? I think college should cost less because some people can’t afford it, which causes them to not get a good education like others who can afford college. There are a lot of kids who have parents who don’t get paid a lot, who have big dreams like kids who can afford college and it being less would help a lot of people who are struggling. The problem with college is that it costs way more than it should. Education should not be that expensive and be available to whoever wants it.
In the article, Everyone deserves the opportunity to get a college education, it states, In the same article it states, "Max Page, Professor of Architecture, and Dan Clawson, Professor of Sociology, both at the University of Massachusetts Amherst stated: 'A century ago high school was becoming a necessity, not a luxury; today the same thing is happening to college. If college is essential for building a career and being a full participant in our democracy as high school once was, shouldn't it be free, paid for by public dollars, and treated as a right of all members of our country?' " This quote tells us that students have to pay for a bright future instead of working for it. This can also mean that it will be impossible for low income families to have a stable income and possibly go into poverty. Although some people may say that tuition free colleges are not exactly free.
In today society, people are easily looked by their college degree level and they can be judged by their degree. But not everybody can afford to go to college in order to get a degree. People have different reasons of not going to college but most of the reasons are because of the tuition. Tuition are too high and they can not afford it. If the free college situation does not make a great effect on the economy, I believe that college should be free because free college can encourage more students to go to college, earn a degree and can decide on their future without the worry of paying debt and contributing to create a better society with their knowledges.
