I walked into my A.O. The bell just rang. I looked at the people sitting next to me. I could just tell by the look in their eyes. They were really tired. I than asked when they woke up they said 6:00. Than I asked them when they went to bed some said 12:00 and some said 11:00. This needs to stop. I think school should start later because kids are not focused enough in the morning. It is hard waking up at 6:00 in the morning, then straight to school. What would be the best way to catch someone’s attention. I thought for the rest of that day. It than just hit me. I should write an argumentative essay. This information may change your perspective on kids starting school time.
Waking up that early, should not be happening with kids and teens so young. “Today nearly 2/3 get under 8, and 2/5 get under 6 hours of sleep per night.” This is not healthy for little kids. They should not be getting only 6 hours of sleep. “Since the 1990s, sleep researchers and other health professionals have been telling us that these early school hours are harming children.” Health issues are becoming a big issue for kids. They should’ve said or done something to stop schools from having little kids wake up so early. It isn’t easy trust me.

Starting school later helps older kids focus more. “I find that delaying school start times by one hour, from roughly 7:30 to 8:30, increases standardized test scores by at least 2 percentile points in math and 1 percentile point in reading.” This shows that school starting later helps in diffrent classes, and impacts students grades which will help them get into colleges. “Waking up earlier has cardiovascular problems, and diabetes; reduced immunity; depression; anxiety; suicidal ideation; and potential impacts on brain development.” That is not good for teens too go through and that is what our world is struggling with now
