Fun Friday has a whole new meaning when there is only four days in a school week. Some school are switching from 5 day weeks to 4 day week. The advantages to the four day school week are adding more flexibility for teacher, increasing student attendance, and the 4 day school week can help save the school districts money. Firstly, the 4 day school weeks are adding flexibility to the teachers schedules. “Teachers report that the flexibility of the 4-day work week helps them get more done. This added flexibility is why they are such staunch proponents of the 4-day school schedule.” With adding the flexibility to their schedules teacher can get more done and still have to weekends with their family. “Rural areas report that their student attendance has increased since switching to the 4-day school week. Since many of the families in these areas run farms, it gives families extra time to get work done during the week. As a result, students don’t have to miss school to help out.” The increase in student attendance also affects how much money the school district saves and or makes.
