When you’re in the store shopping for groceries, household supplies, or even makeup do you ever stop to see what products you are using. The products that people are using have been used to test on animals and others might not know it. Everyday throughout our lives a helpless animal is being experimenting on and no one is probably doing anything to help.
Government rules should be so strict that it’s not harmful to animals when experimenting with them. The first law in the U.S. prohibited the abuse of animals went about in 1641. The treatment went wrong and end up poisoning hundreds of humans causing them to die. The publics outrage from the incident and other situations that went on in the U.S. led to passing an act. Which was the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act that required all testing of drugs on animals before they could be put in the stores. Which isn’t right just because a couple of situations went on with humans why harm the animals.
According to Mahatma Gandhi he stated, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” That quote is basically saying that treating animals bad, and not caring for them in the right way undermines the moral standing of the society that we live in today. Animals are being burned, cut, and many of them are being poisoned. They are subjected to be infected with many diseases. Animals are placed in restraining devices allowing them not to move. Some of the procedures done on the animals can cause severe suffering things such as social isolation, electric shocks, or long-term bleeding.
How do we know if the experiments work on humans if people are experimenting with animals? It’s kind of difficult to take results from experimenting and apply them to humans because we are also different in some ways. That’s why some drugs they test on animals fail on humans because they are not actually humans.
